I spoke with our dealer again this week. Our camper is still delayed, but is supposed to be built starting September 12, 2011, with an estimated ship date of September 19. They are going to put in the front roof vent (which was removed from the 2012 model year), which is great for us and our style of camping.
Once it arrives at the dealer, it will get two roof vent covers with fans, plus a cover over the bathroom vent, which already has a fan. They are also going to put a product called 303 on the roof and its covers, which will provide extra UV protection.
It is also worth mentioning that, while our camper is delayed and taking longer than we thought, this is because of one of Jayco’s values. When they get overloaded with a lot of orders, they do not try to rush their product. They know at which point they start having unacceptable errors in construction, and stay well below that rate to ensure the quality that they want. This is one of the reasons that we stay with Jayco. They seem to stay very focused on their quality control, and are not governed by some bigger corporation. They remain independent.
Hopefully, the next post will be about how we got our camper, not how we are still waiting. It is still hard to wait!
