Our basement is still a mess, and we keep finding things that we can sell. Ebay is our new sport. My wife Cindy has had 90 listings so far just getting rid of the O scale model railroading things we had (I had no idea I had that many things). We continue to take things out of the house, and have donated 20 boxes of books (no room for those in the camper!).
I will soon be going through the garage, and will be listing some of our bigger things on Craigslist. Paring down our belongings is taking more work than we thought, and there is a lot that still needs done.
One thing that is on our minds is pictures. We have three bankers boxes of pictures from our childhoods and before we had a digital camera. I have one box sorted and numbered, and we will be looking for a quality place to have the pictures turned into good scans for digital storage.
Another is: what do you do with movies and other items that are on physical media and which you cannot take with you? My solution is to use a home server and back-up the movies. There are a ton of technical details regarding this, and I have just begun to find the complexities of it all. I could help someone get started, but everyone’s solution is going to be a little different.
Overall, our “stuff” count is dropping, albeit slowly. Cindy is shipping 15 items tomorrow, so that lightens things up a little around here. This is good, because it won’t fit into the camper!
