This last weekend, we went to the camper show at the IX Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Since we are not camping during the winter, we use this show to generate ideas and look at (drool over) different units and compare pros and cons both with them, and comparing them to our unit, a Jayco 31 BHS.
We looked at many family-friendly units, several with three and four bunks. If you are willing to tow 35 feet of camper, you have your choice. However, if you want something in the 30 foot range with four bunks, a slide, an 80 gallon fresh water tank, and storage, there is nothing. Zilch. Nada. No manufacturer that we saw there had a unit that could be easily pulled to out of the way areas, where we want to go. Our current unit is a bit of a challenge to get in some areas, but we think it is worth the effort. With anything bigger, however, I don’t know.
I will be looking at other manufacturers online to see if there is such a thing as I described above. We are partial to the Jayco, but would consider something else if we saw it. The Jayco we would probably get IS 35 feet long, and I need to think long and hard as to whether it would be worth it to go through the changes in camping that this size of rig may require.
